Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!   I am so excited about this year's adventure through first grade! This will be my fourth year teaching and fourth year in first grade here at Jefferson Elementary.  Previously, I graduated from UW-Green Bay in May of 2016.  There, I earned a bachelor's degree in Education and a minor in Human Development.  Throughout my college career, I found my love for teaching and reading.  Currently, I am striving for my Masters in Education with an emphasis in reading. Teaching reading is my passion, and I want to ensure all my students are receiving the best reading instruction I can give them.
I am from Door County and lived there for 23 years with my family.  I currently live in Kewaunee where my husband and I just bought a house.  We recently got married in June of 2018! My hobbies include hiking, boating, water skiing, and spending time with family.
I enjoy teaching first grade because I love it when students start to discover all a book can offer through reading the pictures and words. The age group of first graders fits my energetic, upbeat personality perfectly.  In first grade, we go on three fun field trips to the school forest where they can explore the outdoors.  Students also have the opportunity of a STEM club that I teach every Tuesday night after school.
