Renee Mahloch

Welcome!  I'm Renee Mahloch, and this is my 2nd year teaching 6th grade at Jefferson. I have lived in Manitowoc my whole life, and some of my favorite things to do are reading, watching movies, traveling, and kayaking.
I enjoy 6th grade because it provides a variety of academic and non-academic opportunities for our students. 6th graders are the school leaders.  They are expected to participate in Safety Patrol, and they have the opportunity to be a member of the service group, K-Kids or work for the UnitedOne Credit Union. This year my students will follow a school-wide positive behavior program, continue with a new level of D.A.R.E, compete in the Battle of the Books, take a trip to the Milwaukee Public Museum, and of course, have the privilege of going to Sixth Grade Camp at the School Forest. I am definitely looking forward to this part!
Our students will learn from two 6th grade teachers this year.  I will be teaching Science, English Language Arts, and Math. In Science, they will study Physical, Life and Earth Science. In Social Studies, with Miss Munch, students learn about ancient civilizations. In English Language Arts, we will be doing a lot of reading and writing including narratives, research and poetry. In Math,  they use the College Preparatory Math Series which focuses learning on group work and problem solving.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments throughout the year.
