Beginning in 5th grade, students are given an opportunity to try out the various instruments and then choose if they'd like to join band.

- Basketball:
Girls in grades 3-4 can join the Jefferson Basketball team to learn the basics of playing the game during a 1 1/2 month class held bi-weekly after school which concludes with a tournament against the other MPSD elementary teams.

- D.A.R.E.:  Students in 5th Grade (Fall) and 6th Grade (Spring) participate in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program which is taught by an officer from the Manitowoc Police Department.  The 10 week program teaches students how to resist pressures which may influence them to experiment with alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.  The program also assists students in problem solving, being good citizens, and making smart decisions.  At the conclusion of the program, students receive a certificate at a D.A.R.E.
